Since its founding in 1958…ADCO MANUFACTURING has continued to grow to meet the demanding needs of the packaging industry.

This growth is a result of maintaining the original philosophies of founders, John and Lillian Tanney, by continuing to supply dependable and reliable machinery and service to all of its customers worldwide. An important part of that philosophy continues to be the willingness to listen and work with customers to meet the specific needs of today’s market.

In the 90’s ADCO experienced tremendous growth, increasing sales nearly six fold. ADCO’s manufacturing facility grew accordingly to keep up with the increased sales.

The plant has gone from the original 7,000 square foot building, to a 28,000 square foot facility consisting of four buildings, to their modern 75,000 square foot manufacturing plant that is located less than a quarter of a mile from the original site where John Tanney began ADCO in 1958.

The modern plant enables the company to produce between 100 and 120 machines per year. Over the years, ADCO has produced thousands of machines, filling the needs of a wide variety of customers, for a multitude of applications throughout the world. Many of the machines built in the early 60’s are still operating today and are testimony to the quality and dependability of ADCO machinery.

ADCO entered the worldwide market in 1974 when they signed their first contract with a major Japanese carton company, JUJO CENTRAL CO. Ltd.. This alliance has made ADCO MANUFACTURING one of the largest American machine suppliers in Japan, and has given ADCO valuable representation throughout Southeast Asia.

In 1998 ADCO took a bold step toward further establishing it’s position in the worldwide market with the opening of ADCO Ltd, located in Bristol U.K.. ADCO Ltd. has proven to be a success in the European Market with the proven ADCO “work horse” reliability and construction. To meet the demands of the worldwide market, ADCO offers all of its machines in either English or CE Metric construction.

ADCO’S sales volume increase can largely be attributed to its diversity in carton related product lines. ADCO MANUFACTURING offers a complete line of carton related packaging equipment. Their horizontal cartoning lines range from the economical hand load 15D105 to the heavy duty, high speed auto load BC. ADCO also offers many Vertical cartoners such as the hand load VHL and auto load VAL that can accommodate volumetric, scale, and robotic filling. Top Load Carton Formers with locks, heat seal and hot melt forming heads can be easily mated to their new line of “lugless” tri- seal carton closers. The innovation and robust design of ADCO’s Wrap Around Sleeve machinery have gained ADCO the reputation of a market leader. Additionally, ADCO has the engineering and manufacturing capability to build custom machinery for almost any carton application. Finally, ADCO offers a full line of product indexing systems for almost any application. These lines have worldwide exposure and their introduction has allowed ADCO to position itself in the industry as one of the major suppliers of cartoning machinery.

The major force behind the development of these lines was the late Nick Gil, who served as its president for many years. Nick had been in the carton machine manufacturing industry since 1969 and joined the Management Team of ADCO in 1987. His experience and technical knowledge provided the growth potential for the development of new product lines, as well as advanced production techniques.

New technological changes have been implemented at ADCO, along with the development of new product lines. Both 2D & 3D CAD stations are being utilized in the growing engineering department to assist in engineering and design. CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) systems have been added to the manufacturing department to allow 100% “up-time” for ADCO’S manufacturing department. An advanced data management system including inventory, purchasing and financial management capabilities provides more accurate and timely response to customers and the growing needs of the industry.

Additionally, quality control is continually being improved with an in-house “QUALITY” assurance, parts inspection process, and a mandatory eight-hour machine “run” before all machine shipments. Both of these procedures have contributed to more reliable and dependable machine installation and field operation.

ADCO’s commitment to quality has been aided by the fact that over 95% of its manufactured parts are made in house. ADCO boasts a modern 60,000 sq. ft. manufacturing and fabrication department that is just steps away from the final assembly department. This investment has enabled ADCO to quickly respond to the customers needs.

The principles on which ADCO was founded back in 1958 are still being practiced today as the descendants of John and Lillian Tanney work together to direct ADCO MANUFACTURING toward supplying a quality product at a competitive price.
